Presenter: Tony Dare-Edwards
The oil and gas deposits of the Persia Gulf region are a significant feature of the world's current energy resources. The physical size of the oil fields and amount of oil held in the rocks of the Gulf State is amazing.
This talk will cover the first discovery and tapping of Persia's oil by British geologists in 1909, which led, in turn, to the development of British Petroleum (BP) and the building if the first oil refineries in the UK. Then, the remarkable geological history of this region will be explored to account for the formation and concentration of these oil and gas reserves across the Persian Gulf.
Registration is free but a gold coin is required to attend the session.
