Knitting Fair Isle
Registration for this event opens on 7 July 2026
Presenter: Meri Stewart
In this class we will learn the basics of Fair Isle knitting while making a beanie for ourselves.
This class requires a medium level of experience in knitting.
Please bring 2 balls of 8 ply wool, (ideally a light and a dark shade in colours of your choice), a tape measure, 3.25 circular needle 40 cm long, 3.5 circular needle 40cm long and some stitch markers.
Before the class, knit a swatch of 40 stitches for about 5cm in stocking stitch on 3.5 needles. Your gauge should be 22 stitches to 10cm. If you have more stitches than 22, you will need to use a size larger needle and recheck your gauge. If you have less stitches, you will need to try a size smaller needle. Bring the needles to the class that give you the right gauge.
Registration is free but a gold coin is required to attend each session.
