Presenter: Kathleen Skinner
Event Manager: Geoff Bell / Judy Dennis
This presentation will complement the Aged Care session from last term but will concentrate on options available for thriving in retirement at home.
Part 1. I will provide tips, strategies and resources for caring for yourself and others.
Considerations include the role of family and friends, developing social connections (or practicing the art of being alone), mental and physical health, overcoming adversity, and financial and legal planning.
Local access to information on volunteering, physical recreation and remedial programs, health services, and cultural activities will be provided.
Part 2. I will revisit the transition from the Commonwealth Home Support Program and Care at Home to the new Support at Home Program. (Yes, it's a dog's breakfast!).
After a brief tea break, if time permits, there will be an opportunity to share experiences that might be helpful to others.
Registration is free but a gold coin is required to attend the session.
