Voluntary Assisted Dying
Registration for this event opens on 9 March 2026
Presenter: Annie Skipworth
Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) legislation came into effect in New South Wales in 2023 offering individuals the option to make deeply personal end-of-life choices within a regulated framework. This community session provides a respectful opportunity to share information about the NSW VAD legislation and introduce the services available through the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD).
The presentation will outline key aspects of the law, eligibility criteria, safeguards, and the role of healthcare professionals. It will also explain how MLHD supports individuals, families and clinicians navigating this sensitive area.
Recognising the ethical complexity and emotional weight of the topic, the session is designed to inform, not advocate, and to foster open, compassionate dialogue. Attendees are invited to listen, ask questions and reflect in a supportive environment that honours diverse perspectives and experiences.
