BBC "Wolf Hall"
Registration for this event opens on 20 January 2026
Presenter: Frank Molloy
One of the most successful BBC adaptations in recent years was "Wolf Hall". Based on two novels by Hilary Mantel, "Wolf Hall" and "Bring Up the Bodies", the series is set in England in the tumultuous 1530s, the time of Henry VIII. Acclaimed as "beautifully filmed and brilliantly acted", the series was awarded "Best Drama Series" in the BAFTA Awards and Golden Globe Awards in 2015.
After a session introducing the historical period – and the production - succeeding sessions will include viewing episodes and then discussing characters, setting, social and political issues of the period, and the like.
Seeing and enjoying this series can be seen as a prelude to seeing the second series, "Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light", scheduled for later in 2026. Even if you’ve seen the first series before, re-enrolling again will be a refresher, important for appreciating the brilliance of the second series.
Registration is free but a gold coin is required to attend the session.
