When I first heard the title 'The Land of a Million Elephants', I envisioned it was referring to an area in Africa.
So, where do you think that it is!!
This actually refers to the People's Democratic Republic of Lao [Laos], the name reflecting the powerful kingdom of LanXang that existed from 1354 - 1707, known for large elephant herds and royal symbols of a white elephant. While the elephant population has decreased over the years, the title remains a symbol of Lao's heritage. The last king of Lao surrendered the throne in December 1975, with the country, now one of only five communist countries in existence.
We probably all know that Laos is where six tourists died from methanol poisoning. There is much more to the country though as I found out when I visited there. Join me to learn and see more!!
Registration is free but a gold coin is required to attend the session.
