With Gratitude
Registration for this event opens on 26th May 2025
Presenter: Karolina Kovacs
This is the story of my parents journey from war torn Europe to their new life in Australia.
Janina, a young 17 year old Lithuanian teenager living and working in Germany pre- WW11, with secrets to hide. Josef, a young Slovakian man signing up for war.
It is a glimpse into their plight and survival. The challenges they faced as refugees, adjusting to a new country, language barriers and traumas of war.
This is a love story of a couple who met and married in a Displaced Person's Camp in Austria. They celebrated nearly 70 years of marriage, raising 7 children and enjoyed being grandparents, great grandparents and great-great grandparents to a tribe of happy Australians.
This is why they knew they were "beyond lucky" to be in Australia.
