A Visit to the Wagga Wagga Men's Shed

From a Public Meeting in 2008, The Wagga Menshed started at the Showgrounds in a shipping container, then the Eric Weissel Oval Grandstand, until Wagga Wagga City Council allocated us the former Pony Club grounds at Ashmont.

Infrastructure and sheds gradually materialised until an electrical fault in 2011, razed the main building. Everything seemed lost, but like a Phoenix, the Menshed rose from the ashes.

Although tragic, the members rallied, and with community help created a bigger and better Menshed. With dedication and perseverance, we re-built and developed the current site to a high standard.

With 150 members, we have expanded and now play a significant role in the community, providing assistance and monetary donations to many local charities. At the Shed level, we provide a safe and comfortable working environment, with men's health workshops and fellowship, essential for older men to age disgracefully and discuss life.
