Presenter: Garry Whittaker
With over 30 years experience as a learning and development professional, Garry Whittaker has been the Regional Manager for Training Services within the NSW Department of Education since 2014. In 2020, Garry suffered a severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) from a suspected physical assault resulting in aphasia - an acquired impairment of language generating marked difficulties in naming and word finding abilities - and epilepsy.
Following the injury, Garry used an evidence-based cognitive computerised brain training routine integrating neuroscience along with standard allied health practices to support his vocational rehabilitation and successful return to work. He is now a passionate advocate for how well-being can be enhanced by including brain and physical fitness in everyday living to maintain and improve our cognitive health.
